KABUL (SW) – Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan met with Amir Khan Muttaqi, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Interim Government of Afghanistan, in Ankara on 30 October 2023, said an official statement.
Abdul Qahar Balkhi, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, on Monday night, tweeted that the two sides had a comprehensive discussion about bilateral relations and upgrading the level of diplomatic relations, new commercial corridors and regional issues.
Abdul Qahar Balkhi said: “The foreign ministers of the two countries emphasized on holding such meetings and cooperation with each other and expressed hope for the continuation of such meetings.”
According to Mr. Balkhi, Amir Khan Muttaqi thanked Turkey for his assistance and called the reception of new Afghan diplomats in Ankara and Istanbul a good progress in bilateral relations.
Meanwhile, the Turkish Foreign Minister said in this meeting that the two countries are like two brothers and Turkey will continue its friendship with Afghanistan. He added: “There should no longer be any armed opposition in Afghanistan.”
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had earlier said that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey has expressed his readiness to cooperate with the Afghan government in order to improve the capacity in various sectors.
