Devastation all over in Herat as death toll rises after the massive earthquake

HERAT CITY (SW) – Devastation is all over in Herat as death toll continued to rise after a masse earthquake here, officials confirmed on Sunday.

Officials at the regional hospital in Herat say that as a result of yesterday’s earthquake, 180 people have died and more than 500 injured have been transferred to this hospital.

A source in the regional hospital of Herat, who did not want to be named in this news, told Salam Watandar that the dead and wounded were transferred to this hospital by helicopter from Zindajan district of this province and the transfer is still ongoing.

Officials have also warned of the increase in the number of victims of the earthquake.

At the same time, officials in private hospitals in Herat have also announced full readiness to treat the wounded, but according to them, the wounded have not been transferred to these hospitals so far.

At the same time, a number of young people in Herat have gone to the district hospital of this province to donate blood.

Previously, 16 doctors were present in Herat hospitals to provide health services, but due to the shortage of doctors, all female doctors in this province have been requested to go to the regional hospital of Herat to treat the wounded.

A number of media outlets, citing the United Nations, reported that 320 people died and hundreds were injured as a result of this earthquake. have informed

Earlier, the Ministry of Disaster Management had requested urgent help from relief organizations to save people from the rubble in Zindajan district of Herat.

Muhammad Abdullahjan, the spokesman of the ministry, told Salam Watandar that Zindajan villages and districts were completely destroyed by the earthquake of the previous day.
