PANJSHIR (SW) – Officials in the Public Health Department of Panjshir say that in the first six months of this year, 77 cases of chickenpox have been registered in this province.
A number of residents in different villages of Panjshir, whose children are infected with chickenpox, are worried about the spread of this disease.
Qadriee, a resident of “Abdara” village in Annaba district of Panjshir, whose children were infected with chickenpox, says that although the doctors assured him about the health of his children, but he is worried about transmitting this disease to others. He added: “My two children were infected with chickenpox and were admitted to the hospital. They have now recovered. Too much illness is dangerous. They had fever, runny nose and sore throat, it appeared in their body, and other symptoms of cold.”
Shadab, whose younger brother was infected with chickenpox, says that the symptoms of this disease are similar to measles, and the patient first has a fever, and then red spots appear on the body. He added: “He had runny nose and no appetite. My brother also got this disease from our neighbors. It is a very dangerous disease, when it affects a person, a person becomes depressed and sad.”
The residents of Panjshir ask the authorities to spread awareness and take more measures to prevent the spread and transmission of chickenpox among others.
Officials in the Public Health Department of Panjshir say that since the beginning of this year, 77 cases of chickenpox have been registered in this province. They add that last year, no incident of this disease was recorded in Panjshir.
Khaje Agha Ghafouri, head of primary health care at Panjshir public health department, told Salam Watandar: “In Panjshir, we have 77 cases of chickenpox in different districts. Children between five and 15 years old include 28 girls and six boys, and the rest of the children under five years old are both girls and boys. Our advice to families is to take care of themselves and their children’s health, and if they are injured, get quarantined, or urgently go to the health center, the necessary medicine is available in our health centers.”
Chickenpox is a contagious disease that mostly affects children. According to doctors, the reason for children getting sick and the spread of this disease is family members being infected, weak immune system, unhealthy diet and lack of hygiene.
