Baradar promises to build houses for earthquake victims

HERAT CITY (SW) – Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Minister of Economy, during his visit to Herat, promised that new houses will be built for all the victims of the earthquake in this province.

Abdul Ghani Baradar said this in Herat as he visited the province to assess the scale of destruction after Saturday’s devastating earthquake.

The economic deputy of the Prime Minister’s Office emphasized that government is using all facilities to help the victims of the earthquake in Herat. In this meeting, Abdul Ghani Baradar ordered the local officials of Herat to use the collected aid for all the victims of the earthquake in this province.

The economic deputy of the Prime Minister’s Office added that the process of searching and rescuing earthquake victims in Herat continues.

It should be mentioned that officials in the Ministry of Disaster Management has said that so far more than 4000 people have died and injured as a result of the earthquake. They emphasized that this statistic is preliminary and the number of victims is likely to increase.

After the first bloody earthquake in Herat, several other earthquakes have occurred in this province.

According to the information of the officials in the office of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, the residential houses of all 13 villages in Zindajan district were completely destroyed and hundreds of other houses were also damaged in other areas.
