MAZAR-E-SHARIF (SW) – Officials of Balkh Public Health Department say that in the past year, about 40 health centers have been built in remote villages of this province.
They stated this information on Saturday in a press conference that was held to present the one-year performance report of Balkh public health department department.
Najibullah Tawana, head of Balkh public health, said that about 40 health centers have been built in this province at the cost of three million US dollars. According to him, the cost of the construction of these health centers has been provided by aid institutions for medical services.
The director of public health of Balkh said: “To provide basic health services to the residents of Balkh, we have established 40 health centers in the most remote villages of this province with the financial assistance of various institutions.”
Health officials in Balkh say that with the start of these centers, at least 380,000 people will have access to health services.
The director of public health of Balkh added that during the past year, they have worked in the fields of increasing the capacity of health workers, creating online classes to increase the knowledge of doctors, and upgrading the Abu Ali Sinai district hospital in Balkh from 400 beds to 850 beds.
A number of patients and those who refer to some health centers say that they still do not have access to adequate medical services.
Ahmadullah, a patient at the Abu Ali district hospital, told Salam Watandar: “The service is good, but we do the eexaminations outside at private centers. ”
After the return of the Islamic Emirate to power, the Ministry of Public Health has built health centers in the remote parts of different provinces.
