KABUL (SW) – Amir Khan Muttaqi, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, said at the “Moscow Format” meeting in Moscow that officials of various countries should not bother about giving advice on the formation of an inclusive government, but officially engage with Afghanistan.
The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that just as Afghanistan does not provide a prescription for how other countries should be governed, he also expects other countries not to propose a governance prescription to the Islamic Emirate and that other countries, especially Afghanistan’s neighboring countries, start official engagement with the Islamic Emirate.
In his speech at this meeting, Amir Khan Muttaqi added: “We expect from all countries, especially our neighboring countries, that we do not propose a prescription for the governance of others, instead of proposing a prescription for the governance of Afghanistan, officially engage with the Islamic Emirate in all arenas to start official work.”
While calling for more cooperation of regional countries with this government, he stated that the current government of Afghanistan is ready to cooperate with countries in economic, commercial, transit and border security sectors.
Besides this, Muttaqi assured in this meeting that the Islamic Emirate has neutralized security threats against countries from Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, Zamir Kabulov, Russia’s special representative for Afghanistan, quoted Sergei Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, as emphasizing that it is not possible to ensure peace and stability without the presence of all ethnic groups in Afghanistan’s governance structure. He has also announced that Russia is ready to prepare the ground for peace talks in Afghanistan.
Similarly, in this meeting, the special representative of Russia for Afghanistan also expressed his displeasure with the action of the Islamic Emirate regarding the fight against terrorism.
It should be noted that Amir Khan Muttaqi, at the head of a delegation from the Islamic Emirate, participated and spoke at the “Moscow Format” meeting that was held in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan, with the presence of representatives of more than 10 countries.
