KABUL (SW) – The Ghazni provincial hospital has a small area and old rooms, but with many visiting patients and overcrowding.
Omidullah, a young local man, had brought a patient to this hospital in the middle of the night, but his patient has not been discharged yet. He complained about the lack of waiting rooms for patients and lack of beds for patients.
He said: “We have been here since one o’clock in the morning, and by now it’s 3:30 p.m., there is no place to sit. They don’t allow sick people, there is not enough room. Our request is that they increase the parking lot, add a few chairs in this area is and ensure hygiene.”
Zafar and Hamed, two other visitors to this hospital, also complained about the hospital staff not taking proper care of their patients. They want the authorities to pay attention to health sector and increase the number of beds in this hospital.
Zafar says: “We came in the morning, there is a lot of traffic, there are few doctoror physicians. The area is also small, when we brought the patient, the doctors do not take care properly, there is a lot of disorganization.”
Hamed says: “The number of hospitals is few, there are few parking spaces, there are many patients, and there are few doctors. Our wish is that the number of doctors should be increased.”
The residents of Ghazni, who want to rebuild and expand the building of the provincial hospital of this province, said that this hospital does not meet the health needs of the current population of Ghazni.
Zahra, a resident of Ghazni, told Salam Watandar about this: “The number of patients is too high, the patients are not taken care of, there are no proper facilities, there are few doctors. We request the authorities to rebuild the hospital building and provide the necessary facilities for the patients and citizens of Ghazni.
Meanwhile, Nurullah Habibi, head of the hospital, accepted the problem of crowding of clients to this hospital and said that the improvement in the provision of health services and people’s trust towards health services in government hospitals has caused the crowding of clients. He asked the residents of Ghazni to observe order and hygiene in hospitals.
The director of Ghazni provincial hospital added: “The number of patients in the provincial hospital has increased for various reasons. One is that the provision of services to people has improved and the other is that people’s trust has increased. For this reason, the number of clients has increased. We want people to cooperate with us; Because with the increase in the number of patients, the spread of germs also increases.”
Rasul Khan Nazari, head of public health in Ghazni, also told Salam Watandar that the provincial hospital of this province was built about 80 years ago and is not able to respond to the health needs of the current population of Ghazni.
He adds: “The population is increasing every day and the provincial hospital of Ghazni does not have enough space. Its building is dilapidated and old and was built about 80 years ago, which is not enough for the current population. It seems crowded due to lack of space. There are many clients and, God willing, health services will be provided to all.”
The lack of sufficient medical centers at the district level has caused the residents of the districts and villagers to refer to the provincial hospital of Ghazni for the treatment of their patients, and this problem has caused overcrowding in this hospital.
Hikmatullah, a man who brought his patient to this hospital from the distant Nawa district of Ghazni, told Salam Watandar that there are not enough clinics in his district and they have to go to the provincial hospital of Ghazni to treat their patients.
He added: “The number of patients in the district is very high and there is only one clinic where you have to wait for your appointment from morning to evening. For this reason, we have brought the urgent patient here.”
He wants the Ministry of Public Health to expand standard hospitals and treatment centers at the level of districts and villages in order to provide access to health services for people in the districts and to reduce congestion in urban hospitals.
He added: “Our wish is to build good clinics and hospitals in the province, districts and villages. Sometimes when it rains, the roads are blocked and patients die because there is no doctor, the medicine is of poor quality, that’s why the facilities must be improved.”
However, the director of public health in Ghazni says that in the last two years, 54 medical centers have been built in the center and districts of this province, and efforts are underway to give more people access to health services.
He adds: “The number of health centers in the districts has increased. With the arrival of the Islamic Emirate, 54 new health centers have been built in Ghazni alone, which is a huge figure.”
