Mediation efforts between the TTP, Pakistan have dubbed unsuccessful

KABUL (SW) – The foreign ministry’s talks to mediate between the Pakistani authorities and the Pakistani Taliban have been unsuccessful, said officials.

Following the Pakistani authorities’ criticism of terrorist threats to Pakistan from Afghanistan, acting foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi said that they have mediated several times between the Pakistani authorities and the Pakistani Taliban to ensure peace in Pakistan. However, due to the changes in the Pakistani cabinet, these talks have not resulted in any results. On the other hand, Mr. Muttaqi said that the countries whose embassies operate in Afghanistan have recognized the Islamic Emirate.

He told the government’s accountability program to the nation that they have mediated several times between the Pakistani authorities and the Taliban in order to ensure peace in Pakistan. But these efforts have not resulted in any result due to the changes in the cabinet of Pakistan. “We cooperated in two parts in Pakistan. One was mediation between the Pakistani authorities and the Pakistani Taliban. We facilitated and they had several meetings and these talks progressed a lot. But their system changed in Pakistan, but it was not the final news and it was a collaboration,” he said.

Mr. Muttaqi said, western countries use the recognition issue of the Islamic Emirate as a pressure tool. But he added that the western countries do not have a special condition for recognizing the Islamic Emirate. He considered the creation of an all-inclusive government, respect for human rights and security issues as an excuse for the recognition of the Islamic Emirate by western countries.

Amir Khan Muttaqi said that the countries whose embassies operate in Afghanistan have recognized the Islamic Emirate. “Afghan embassies are open in other countries, and from the countries whose embassies operate in Afghanistan, this in itself means the recognition of the Islamic Emirate, and those countries have recognized the Islamic Emirate,” he said.

Officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in this program that in the past year, 3,500 Afghan prisoners have been transferred from other countries to Afghanistan and this process continues. Shoaib Baryalay, head of consular affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said: “As a result of the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 3,500 prisoners from other countries have been transferred to Afghanistan, and this process continues, and in the past year, this ministry has issued visas for 2,500 domestic and foreign investors.”

Currently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate has active representation in 16 countries and has close relations with neighboring countries and the region. But after two years, no country has yet officially recognized the establishment of Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan.
