Officials promise tight security for Muharram

KABUL (SW) – Officials at the Kabul security command have assured the residents of the capital of tight security during the Muharram days, especially during the Ashura commemoration ceremonies.

Khaled Zadran, the spokesman of the Kabul security command, told Salam Watandar: “Due to the Shia religious ceremony, a joint commission has been established between the Ministry of Interior, the Kabul security command, the intelligence, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Information and Culture, and Shia elders, and in consultation with them, security will be provided to the tekia khanas and mosques.”

At the same time, a number of Shiite religious scholars, expressing their gratitude to the security forces of the Islamic Emirate in order to ensure the security in the west of Kabul city, asked these forces to deal with the citizens properly. Abdullah Afzali, a member of the Afghan Shia Ulema Council, said that the security forces of the Islamic Emirate have so far tried to ensure the security of Hosseini mourners so that they can perform their religious ceremonies with peace of mind. He added: “The Islamic Emirate has employed 13,000 people from the army and national security departments to ensure the security of Ashura.”

Likewise, Hamid, the person in charge of security in the west of Kabul city, has asked the citizens to cooperate with the security forces during Muharram days to ensure security.
Hamid said: “People and mourners in the areas where the Muharram ceremony is held and they take part in it in a safe and peaceful atmosphere for their religious ceremony, there is no security problem.”
