“No female doctors in Aliabad district”

KUNDUZ CITY (SW) – A number of residents of Aliabad district of Kunduz, complaining about the lack of female doctors in the medical centers of this district, say that they are facing problems and most of the time, women die during pregnancy.

Hayatullah, a resident of Aliabad district, told Salam Watandar: “Indeed, the people of Aliabad, especially the people of the villages, are facing the problems of the lack of female doctors. For example, pregnant women’s health problems or other health problems that they want to see a female doctor are not getting addressed. The road to Aliabad’s center is too far for the villagers.”

Obaidullah, another resident of Aliabad district, wants the health authorities to address their health problems, especially in the context of the lack of female doctors in the medical centers of this district. He said: “There are no female doctors in Aliabad district at all, and if there are, there are one or two, and they are not well-informed and prominent doctors. They have only studied nursing or run a pharmacy, and otherwise there are no more female doctors.”

Rehmatullah Tutakhil, acting director of public health of Kunduz, however, while rejecting this issue, said that there are female doctors in the government hospital and medical centers of Aliabad district. He added: “We promise all the people of Kunduz that we will take care of their problems. We have 76 clinics in Aliabad district. Joint teams and different teams work with us. We understand those friends who are worried about health. There are midwives and doctors in all clinics, and we have day and night services.”

Previously, the residents of other districts of Kunduz also complained about the lack of female doctors in the clinics and the lack of proper provision of medical services.
