KABUL (SW) – Officials of border forces of the Islamic Emirate have confirmed that the Iranian border forces shot five Afghan migrants who were trying to cross the border last night.

Abdur Rahim Manoor, the spokesman of the third division of the border police, has said that these five Afghan citizens were shot by the Iranian border guards when they tried to enter the territory of Iran illegally.

Manoor added that a woman is also among the dead.

Mr. Manoor did not provide more details in this regard, but reports suggest that these Afghan citizens wanted to enter Iranian territory from Nimroz.

A significant number of Afghan citizens are smuggled to Iran on regular basis due to poverty and unemployment in Afghanistan.
