Investors interested in investing up to $2 billion

KABUL (SW) – Officials in the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced on Wednesday in the “Government Accountability Program to the Nation” that foreign investors are interested in investing in Afghanistan up to two billion dollars.
Based on the information provided by the officials of this ministry, more than 150 million dollars have been invested in Afghanistan by foreign investors. Most foreign investors are interested in investing in mining and electricity production in Afghanistan.
Sibghatullah Akhundzada, the head of investment development of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said: “Foreign investors came to Afghanistan and told us that they are ready to invest nearly two billion dollars inside Afghanistan.”
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has announced that it has distributed business licenses to more than 7,000 investors, including 1,000 female investors, in the past year.
In addition to this, the officials of the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced the establishment of nearly 50 production factories after the establishment of the Islamic Emirate and the activation of 80% of the factories that had stopped operating during the past years due to various reasons.
Acting Minister of Industry and Trade, in response to Salam Watandar’s reporter’s question about how many factories are currently active in the country, said that there are five thousand active factories registered in this ministry.
Nuruddin Azizi, Acting Minister of Industry and Trade, said in this regard: “These five thousand factories whose statistics we have are the statistics announced by the private sector and presented to us as well. We will register and announce the exact statistics of the factories with all the details by next year.”
The officials of the Ministry of Industry and Trade added that the plan presented by this ministry to the cabinet of the caretaker government for the use of domestic products has been approved.
