Floods cause havoc in Maidan Wardak

MAIDAN CITY (SW) – Local authorities in Maidan Wardak say that last night 22 people died and four people were injured due to floods in Jalriz, Qir, Chek, Syed Abad and Jaghato districts of this province.

Wahidullah Sarwari, the spokesman of Maidan Wardak governor, told Salam Watandar that 40 other people have also disappeared in these floods. Sarwari added that as a result of last night’s floods, hundreds of residential houses, thousands of acres of agricultural land, and a number of bridges and culverts have been destroyed, and the Kabul-Bamiyan highway has been closed to travelers.

According to the information provided by Maidan Wardak natural disasters management department, the first aid teams of this department have been sent to the affected districts and efforts are underway to provide immediate assistance to the affected families.
