KABUL (SW) – Officials of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum have said extraction of oil from the Qashqari oil wells in Sar-e-Pul has begun.
Shahabuddin Delawar, acting head of the ministry, said during his visit to this province that Qashqari fields are an important economic source of the country and according to him, a part of Qashqari’s oil income will be spent on the reconstruction and development of the province.
While inaugurating the 21st oil well, he said that the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum is trying to increase the oil extraction level from this well to 100 tons per day in the near future. He said: “By the end of this year, 15 more wells will be repaired and drilled, which will extract more than 1,000 tons of oil per day and the revenue will be used for the reconstruction of the country.”
According to Delaware, professionals and non-professionals in the field of oil extraction will be hired first from Sar-e-Pul and then from other provinces.
The long civil wars and the lack of attention of the governments in the field of oil extraction have caused Afghanistan to import its petroleum products from abroad.
