Suicide attack in Badakhshan claims 13 lives

KABUL (SW) – Muazuddin Ahmadi, the head of information and culture department in Badakhshan, has said that 13 people were killed, including Safiullah Samim, the former commander of Baghlan security, as a result of the suicide attack in a mosque.

According to him, more than 30 people have been injured. He described the nature of the event as suicide.

Moazuddin Ahmadi added: “Before noon today, the people of Badakhshan had gathered in a ceremony to offer prayers to the soul of the deputy and former head of Badakhshan province, when suddenly at the end of the program, an explosion took place, which resulted in the martyrdom of 13 influential people, religious scholars.”

The head of information and culture department said that the injured of the incident were taken to Badakhshan government hospital, Faizabad private hospitals and some other wounded were transferred to the 400-bed hospital in Kabul by helicopters of the Islamic Emirate Army and their condition was reported to be good.

The Ministry of Interior announced the casualties of this attack as 11 dead and 30 wounded. No person or group has yet claimed responsibility for this attack.

Nisar Ahmad Ahmadi, the deputy and acting governor of Badakhshan province, was killed on Tuesday in a suicide attack that was claimed by Daesh.
