“Coordination with the UN is the only way out of the current stalemate”

KABUL (SW) – The Islamic Emirate authorities have reiterated the call for closer coordination and cooperation with the international community.

The special coordinator of the United Nations for Afghanistan, Faridun Senerli Oglu, who has been in Afghanistan since last Thursday, met with a number of senior officials of the UN and discussed various topics with them.

The Islamic Emirate authorities noted in a press release that the UN envoy said in a meeting with the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday that he has started working on how to develop relations between the Islamic Emirate and the United Nations. It is written in the press release that Senerli Oglu mentioned in this visit that he will prepare an independent report from Afghanistan and submit it to the United Nations.

It should be mentioned that before this, two deputy secretary generals of the United Nations have visited Afghanistan and held talks with the officials, but it can be seen that they did not have any significant results.

However, the Islamic Emirate’s spokesman, Bilal Karimi, is encouraging the continuation of such trips. He insisted that the Islamic Emirate will not back down from its national interests in any way, and according to him, the continuation of such trips by the officials of the United Nations will be useful in solving the existing problems.

Political analysts Mohammad Baqer Mohseni and Mirwais Ashfata believe that the only way to overcome the current situation in Afghanistan is to have and maintain good and positive relations between the Islamic Emirate and the international community. “Due to Afghanistan’s economic and political needs, it is useful to be a member of the United Nations. For this reason, I consider the visit of Feridun Senerli Oglu as positive,” said Mohseni. “These visits may be positive for the current government in some areas, but it is unlikely that such visits will lead to the recognition of the government,” said Ashfata.

Although the international community has maintained its relations with the Islamic Emirate in the past two years, no country has yet taken any steps to recognize the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
