Islamic Emirate discards the UNSC’s condemnation

KABUL (SW) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, in response to the resolution of the United Nations Security Council regarding interaction with the Islamic Emirate and respecting the rights of women, has said that the discussions related to women rights are among Afghanistan’s internal issues and do not affect other countries.

Zia Ahmad Takal, deputy spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told the local media that according to international laws and standards, the countries of the world should not interfere in Afghanistan’s internal affairs. “This is an internal social issue of Afghanistan and has no effect on the countries of the world.”

The United Nations Security Council recently issued a resolution asking the Islamic Emirate to remove restrictions on women’s work, education and participation in society. In this resolution, along with the importance of interacting with the Islamic Emirate to deal with the crises that Afghan citizens are facing, countries and international organizations have emphasized to use their influence to force the Islamic Emirate to respect women’s rights.

After the approval of this resolution, the representatives of the United States, the United Arab Emirates and Russia have separately insisted on the importance of respecting women’s rights in Afghanistan.

Analysts consider the United Nations Security Council resolution and the Islamic Emirate’s reaction to it as a sign of the Islamic Emirate’s confrontation with the world.

Tariq Farhadi, an expert on political issues, told Salam Watandar the Security Council’s resolution shows that the Taliban are on one side and the rest of the world is on the other side. “Almost 90 countries and the United Nations condemn the current situation in Afghanistan.”

In a few days time, Antonio Guterres, the Secretary General of the United Nations, and the special representatives of various countries for Afghanistan, will discuss Afghanistan’s issues behind closed doors in a meeting in Doha. In this meeting, there will be a discussion and voting on the methods of interaction of countries with the Islamic Emirate.

It is said that a representative of the Islamic Emirate was not invited to this meeting. Officials of the Islamic Emirate say that whether or not to attend this meeting has not been finalized yet.

However, Bilal Karimi, one of the deputy spokespersons of the Islamic Emirate, tells Salam Watandar the government appreciates every step taken to improve relations with the Islamic Emirate. He added: “According to the current conditions of the country, regarding humanitarian aid as well as formal diplomatic relations and the removal of restrictions, actions and decisions should be taken so that we can solve the issues.”

After the return of the Islamic Emirate to power, the international community, by holding meetings and issuing many declarations, requested the Islamic Emirate to respect human rights, especially the rights of women, and to form an inclusive government in Afghanistan, but these demands that have not led to a substantial resolution,
