KABUL (SW) – A viral video of the Islamic Emirate forces beating up a civilian in Kabul has resulted in stern criticism from the public.

Saleh Mohammad, a resident of Kabul city, told Salam Watandar that a few nights ago, when he was walking with his brother in the Khair Khana, the forces of the Islamic Emirate forcibly searched his brother’s phone. He added: “A few nights ago, they stopped my brother and me in the area of Panjsad Family and took my brother’s mobile phone and told him to unlock it. As my brother said that there are my personal things in this mobile phone and I can’t open it, but they said no, open it. Finally, they opened his mobile phone and saw family photos and personal things. ,… Emirat forces have these problems.”

Likewise, Hamira, another resident of Kabul city, said that she has repeatedly witnessed the mistreatment of women by the forces of the Islamic Emirate in the city. “That day I was in a second-hand shop, a patrol team of the Islamic Emirat was telling a woman to wear the veil ‘properly’. I saw this situation and it is very painful. I see women who all have mental problems at home.”

Earlier, a prosecutor in Balkh, beat up a taxi driver in the provincial capital, Mazar-e-Sharif, for transporting a female passenger. Akif Mohajer, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Enjoining Good and Forbidding the Evil, told Salam Watandar that the inspector was arrested for insulting the taxi driver. “About Balkh, when we received the information, the leadership of the ministry entrusted the task to the head of the ministry to arrest the public prosecutor who misbehaves with the people. We handed them over to the law, and if the general public has a complaint against the security forces, they can go to the Ministry of Enjoining Good and Forbidding the Evil and register their complaint.”

Despite the complaints about the mistreatment, Abdul Nafi Takour, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Interior Affairs, emphasized that the Islamic Emirate will not allow anyone to harass the citizens. “Any person who oppresses citizens will be arrested by the Islamic Emirate and handed over to the law. Whether this person is inside the system or an ordinary person, the Islamic Emirate will not allow anyone to do this.”

Meanwhile, social affairs experts say that any unprofessional treatment of the Islamic Emirate forces with citizens can cause a gap between the people and the government and strengthen the internal legitimacy crisis.

Basmullah Yavari, a social affairs expert, said: “During the 20 years of the republic in Afghanistan, people have experienced democracy, citizenship rights and social activities. However, the encounter of the Islamic Emirate forces with the citizens is a primitive encounter. The government has to, and if it wants to gain internal legitimacy, it needs to respect people’s thoughts and clothing and cultural diversity in the country.”
