Government departments owe 18 billions of afghanis to the NDC

KABUL (SW) – Officials of the National Development Corporation, which has been operating in the construction sector of development projects since 2018, say that various government departments owe it nearly 18 billion afghanis.

The NDC officials said this at a press conference held at the Government Information and Media Center. They asked the officials of the debtor offices to consider the payment of the debts in the budget plan for the fiscal year 1402.

Abdullah Ahmadzai, head of constructions at the NDC, said that this company also has debts to facilitating companies and the process of paying these debts is ongoing. He aadded “We also have loans from facilitating companies. We are trying to pay this debt from the company’s own income. In the meantime, 18.4 billion afghanis that other departments owe us, there are also loans from facilitating companies.”

From the time of its creation, the National DDevelopment Corporation has completed and put into operation 457 projects across the country, which mostly include the construction projects of government offices and construction of dams and roads, of which 83 projects were completed last year.

Officials at the NDC said that due to the lack of development budget, the implementation of 600 development projects of this company has been stopped.

Abdul Wali Adel, the financial and administrative deputy of the NDC, said that this year, work on dozens of projects that have been stopped before will also begin. He aadded “In 1402, we plan to start work on 82 projects that were stopped after the political developments. In the same way, let’s speed up dozens of other projects that started last year.”

It should be mentioned that in the financial year of 1401, the Islamic Emirate allocated a small budget to the development sectors.
