KABUL (SW) – A Chinese mining company has vowed to provide jobs for disabled persons in Afghanistan.
In a program held at the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled Affairs, representatives of the ‘Fan China Afghan’ firm said that they have decided to use the facilities of their projects in Afghanistan to create three factories for the families of the war victims and the disabled persons.
Officials of this extraction, mine processing and trading company promised in this program that in order to provide work environment and source of income to the families of the victims and disabled people, they will create three factories in Afghanistan and a certain share of their project’s facilities in Afghanistan will take care of these families.
Seyed Habib Shahpour, a representative of this company, said: “Today, we helped the families of martyrs, disabled and orphaned children with 200,000 dollars. In the near future, we will have other aid packages through the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled. We have decided to establish three specific factories, including an electrical factory, clothing and goods factory, where only these families can work and earn, with good facilities.”
Shah Mohammad Dost, the head of the office of the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled Affairs, welcomed the cooperation of this company. He said that since the establishment of the Islamic Emirate, 600,000 people with disabilities, widows and orphans have been registered in this ministry. He said that with the help of charities, 80 thousand families of victims and disabled people have been helped.
“340,000 orphans, 190,000 people with disabilities and 80,000 widows have been registered, and 90% of their salaries have been paid. 190,000 people with disabilities, of which 30,000 were former soldiers, are registered with us and receive monthly salaries,” he said.
On the other hand, a number of people with disabilities and the families of the victims complain about the bad living conditions and the non-payment of their salaries by the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled Affairs.
Saleh Mohammad Sabit, a resident of Kabul and one of the people with disabilities, told Salam Watandar that the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled Affairs has not paid his salary for a year and his life has become difficult. “It’s been a year since our livelihood is snatched. There are eight of us in the house. One of my legs is disabled and the other has tremors. I am educated and I used to be an officer when I lost my leg in the war.”
Mir Akbar, another person with disability in Kabul who is dealing with economic problems, said that he has not received his salary from the ministry yet. He added: “They haven’t paid our wages for several months. There are seven people in my family and I have five children. I am the head of the family. I am disabled with both eyes, the situation is bad.”
Officials of the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled Affairs and the Afghan Fan China Mining, Processing and Trading Company donated 30,000 pairs of shoes worth 200,000 dollars to people with disabilities and the families of the victims.
