KABUL (SW) – Officials at the Technical and Vocational Education Department say that they have prepared the educational curriculum of the technical and vocational institutes with international standards.

They said this on Saturday during a ceremony to mark the beginning of the academic year 1402.

Gholam Haider Shahamat, head of the Technical and Vocational Education Department, said: “In the past, the country’s education and training system was not of adequate quality and could not meet the demands of the labor market, but now we have tried to make changes in the curriculum of technical and professional institutes.”

On this occasion, officials of the Ministry of Higher Education said that from now on, people who complete their studies in technical and professional service institutes and participate in the special exam of government universities, will be recruited in the guilds after passing the exam.

Nada Mohammad Nadim, Acting Minister of Higher Education, said: “There should not be any difference in the educational system of public institutions with the first and second classes of public universities. We have tried to make the educational curriculum the same.”

On the other hand, a number of students who participated in the ceremony at the Institute of Technical and Vocational Education, asked the Islamic Emirate to open the gates of schools to female students as well.

Abdul Wahab Sarwari, a student at the Institute of Technical and Vocational Education, said: “Most girls are denied going to school and we ask the Islamic Emirate to open the gates of schools to girls.”

Gholam Darwish Amiri, another student of this institute, said: “Girls are half of the body of the society and we want the Islamic Emirate to make positive use of the talent of girls for the prosperity of our society and open the gates of schools to female students.”

It should be noted that it has been more than 500 days that more than one million female students have been denied going to school.
