According to the press release of the Afghan Embassy, there were about 180 people on board the ship, of which 67 bodies have been found so far.

Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate asked the aid organizations to send the bodies of Afghans in the sunken refugee boat back to Afghanistan, but now it has been decided that these bodies will be buried in the cemetery of Croton in Italy.

At the same time, a number of Afghans living in Turkey told Salam Watandar that they were forced to leave Afghanistan due to insecurity, unemployment and poverty.

Qasim, an Afghan refugee in Turkey, said: “We are planning to go to Europe because of insecurity, poverty and unemployment, and we are currently in Turkey. In Turkey, they do not give work to Afghans easily, they do not have documents and they do not pay money”.

The Embassy of Afghanistan in Italy has also said that 5 Afghan asylum seekers who were rescued from a boat that sank off the coast of Italy have been transferred to hospital for treatment.

Separately, based on the statements of the local authorities of Nimroz, the bodies of 470 Afghan refugees from Iran have been transported to this province in the past eleven months.
