MONITORING (SW) – The SAARC Journalists Forum has asked the member countries, especially Pakistan, to help resolve the issues of Afghan journalists there.
Following a webinar in this connection, it was stressed the SAARC member countries should protect and support Afghan journalists instead of putting pressure on them.
Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Maldives are SAARC member countries and the SAARC Journalists Association also has branches in these countries.
According to the SAARC Journalists Forum, this association will not only talk to the government of Pakistan to solve the problems of the Afghan journalists there, but will also take necessary measures to solve them.
The forum also called on the Islamic Emirate to provide facilities for Afghan journalists to work freely.
The SAARC Journalists Forum organized an online meeting on Sunday with the representatives of 8 countries about the situation of Afghan journalists and discussed the problems and solutions of Afghan journalists not only in Afghanistan, but also in SAARC member countries.
Gul Mohammad Gran, head of the Afghanistan branch of SAARC Journalists Forum, who participated in this online meeting, asked this association and the member countries of SAARC to support Afghan journalists not only in Afghanistan, but also in the countries of the region, especially Pakistan.
After this meeting, the SAARC Journalists Forum sent an open letter to the United Nations and asked them not to forget Afghan journalists and to put pressure on the governments of SAARC member countries to solve the problems of Afghan journalists in their countries.
