Aid delivery to needy families severely affected

KABUL (SW) – Three weeks after women were banned from working in domestic and foreign non-governmental organizations in Afghanistan, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Aid (OCHA) said that the process of providing aid to needy families has been severely affected.

According to OCHA, in the coming days in parts of Afghanistan, the air temperature will drop to minus 35 degrees Celsius that increases the need for assistance.

“Humanitarian partners help families in need with winter packages, including heating equipment, cash for fuel and warm clothes, but the distribution of aid has been severely affected after the ruling authorities banned women aid workers from non-governmental organizations.”

On the other end, the officials of the Ministry of Economy has announced that they are working on a plan based on which women can return to work in non-governmental organizations.

Abdur Rahman Habib, the spokesman of the ministry, told Salam Watandar: “In some areas where women are required to work, this issue will be addressed, and in some areas where women’s work is urgently needed, a solution will be found.”

It should be mentioned that yesterday, the members of the United Nations Security Council issued a statement asking the Islamic Emirate to immediately cancel all actions against Afghan women and girls.
