UNSC to hold meeting on situation Afghanistan

MONITORING (SW) – An important meeting of the United Nations Security Council on the situation in Afghanistan is scheduled to be held in New York, United States of America on Tuesday.

Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, recently said that he will present the reports of alleged war crimes in Afghanistan documented by the Office of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) at this meeting.

He has also expressed concerns about the violation of human rights in Afghanistan and has asked the Islamic Emirate to implement its obligations regarding the prevention of discrimination, justice and impunity. “Reliable allegations of human rights violations have also been received when interacting with the armed opposition.”

Bilal Karimi, one of the deputy spokespersons of the Islamic Emirate, has read these reports as one-sided and far from reality. “In Panjshir and in all parts of the country, people of the Islamic Emirate are working to ensure security, but unfortunately, the facts are not considered in these reports, and these reports are based on false and biased information.”

The United Nations Security Council will review the situation in Afghanistan while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan has informed the Security Council of handing over documented proof about the shelters of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Afghanistan.
