KABUL (SW) – Following the complete dominance of the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan, concerns about the violation of human rights values in the country have increased with many fingers pointed at the forces of the Islamic Emirate in a number of cases.
Among the provinces where Islamic Emirate forces have been accused of violating human rights values, Panjshir has always been in the news where a number of forces of the ‘National Resistance Front’ are said to be present and every now and then armed conflicts occurs between them and the forces of the Islamic Emirate.
In recent months, the forces of the Islamic Emirate have been repeatedly accused of violating human rights in Panjshir, reports of which have been published in the media and social networks.
These days, a number of residents of Panjshir are complaining about the violation of human rights values by the forces of the Islamic Emirate in this province.
Mohammad Karim – a pseudonym – a resident of Panjshir valley, says that there are many cases of human rights violations by the Islamic Emirate in Panjshir. He said: “One of my family members was dragged from his workplace, killed and dumped in an unknown place. He had been a shopkeeper for 20 years and had no connection with any faction.
This resident of Panjshir continues that the forces of the Islamic Emirate are harassing the people in this province on various pretexts.
In the same way, Shakiba – not the actual name- another resident of Panjshir, expressing a similar issue, said: “If a member of our family was in the resistance front, and was even martyred; the Islamic Emirate forces come inside our houses and ask if we still have weapons?”
She added the Panjshir residents ask the Islamic Emirate to ensure justice and should pay attention to human rights in Panjshir.
In the same way, Tawfiq Ahmadi, another resident of Panjshir, referring to the bad situation of human rights in this province, said the Islamic Emirate in Dara district forced the civilians, the people who lived in the villages, to flee from their homes. “They went to Kabul and the only reason for the Islamic Emirate was that their relatives are members of the resistance front”.
Meanwhile, Richard Bennett, the United Nations special rapporteur on human rights for Afghanistan, in his trip to Panjshir last week, accompanied by a UNAMA delegation, said that there are concerns about human rights violations in Afghanistan.
Bennett, who left after his 12-day trip to Afghanistan, tweeted that the analysis of free sources confirms the shocking treatment of the Islamic Emirate with the prisoners of the National Resistance Front.
Yusuf Ahmadi, one of the deputy spokespersons of the Islamic Emirate, however, in an interview with Salam Watandar, called Richard Bennett’s statements baseless and far from the truth and added that in Panjshir, no one was arrested for no reason and women were not disturbed either.
Following the viral videos about the killing of prisoners of war in Panjshir by the forces of the Islamic Emirate, the Ministry of Defense said that investigations have been started to determine whether these claims are true and false, and if they are true, the perpetrators of this will be arrested, however, the results of these investigations have not been shared with the citizens and the media so far.
