1600 people in Kandahar, Balkh and Herat to get jobs

HERAT (SW) – At least 1600 people in Kandahar, Balkh and Herat to get jobs, announced officials.

Officials in the western part of the country say that Mercy Corp organisation has launched the technical and vocational training program for 1600 people, including women, in Herat, Kandahar and Balkh provinces.

Jack Byrne, the head of the Mercy Corp in Afghanistan, said at the beginning of this program that the beneficiaries of this program are going to be trained in 18 types of professions, which include sewing, mobile phone repair, electrical wiring, carpet weaving, hairdressing and other professions.

He added that the trainees of this program enter the labor market after six months of training and help their families with economic growth. According to him, 500 people, including 300 women, have been included in this program in Herat alone.

Abdul Wali Waris, Acting Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, who was present in this program, asked the officials of international institutions to launch basic programs for Afghan youths to find them jobs.

Waris promised in this program that they will cooperate with international institutions to find jobs and prevent illegal immigration.

On the other hand, a number of young people who are included in the technical and vocational training program say that they can help their families’ finances after learning.
