CHARIKAR (SW) – A notable surge in revenue has been reported at Parwan province’s public works department.
Officials at the Public Workd Department of Parwan say that the revenue of heavy weight transportation has increased in the center of this province and Sheikh Ali district, most of which is earned through the transportation of coal.
Director of Public Works of Parwan, Ezzatullah, says that compared to previous years, the revenue of high tonnage has increased multiple times in this province. According to him, most of the revenue is received from the transportation of coal.
Director of Public Utilities of Parwan added that 80,000 to 100,000 afghanis a day is earned from high tonnage vehicles.
“In the past, the vehicles used to carry a lot of weight, which caused the roads to deteriorate. There was a lot of corruption there, right from the governor to the foot soldiers, but since we came, we have collected 15 to 16 million afghanis in revenue.
Meanwhile, transporters who pass through Parwan say they are satisfied with the behavior of the officials.
They say that in the past, the police used to ask them for money on the highways and they were dealing with many problems. The drivers say that they are now traveling without any problems and have no fear.
Salim, a driver, said that in the previous government, the officials on the highway in Herat and Kandahar used to charge 5 to 6 thousand afghanis, which is not the case now.
It is worth mentioning that after the rule of the Islamic Emirate the export of coal to Pakistan has increased. With this, a number of passengers and motorists are also complaining about the deterioration of the roads due to the transportation of coal to Pakistan.
