KABUL (SW) – Officials of the Ministry of Disaster Management announced the creation of a new committee to rebuild the houses that were destroyed by the earthquake two weeks ago in Paktika and Khost provinces.
Sharafuddin Muslim, Deputy Minister of Disaster Management, said in a press conference in Kabul today that nearly 18,000 houses were damaged following the earthquake in Paktika and Khost provinces two weeks ago.
Mr. Muslim adds that creating shelter for the injured is a serious need that needs to be addressed immediately. According to him, the victims of the recent earthquake need 25 thousand tents.
On the other hand, the officials of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment announce their readiness to help the victims of the earthquake in Paktika and Khost.
Khan Jan Alkozi, a member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce and Investment, said in this press conference that this institution has allocated about 30 million Afghanis to the victims of the recent earthquakes.
He adds that today, 13 million has been provided to the government ministry for dealing with incidents.
After the earthquake in Paktika and Khost, which caused huge losses to the residents of these provinces, domestic and foreign organizations and a number of countries allocated humanitarian aid to reach the victims.
