Islamic Emirate announces to hold a grand consultative meeting

KABUL (SW) – The Islamic Emirate authorities have announced to hold a grand consultative meeting in Kabul next month.

A letter circulated on social media regarding the gathering, stating that two religious scholars and a community leader would represent each district from across the country.

Analysts say that the real representatives of the people should be invited to the meeting.

Syed Akbar Agha, a former official of the Islamic Emirate and an analyst on affairs, confirmed that a major meeting would be held in Kabul this week, but said that the participants should be selective.

Syed Akbar Agha told Salam Watandar that the meeting may have the participation of cadres of the former regime and consult on what to do with the armed opposition and what is the solution.

“It should have been better had the delegates been elected to make it different from the previous Loya Jirgas,” he said. “It should be not like the previous Loya Jirga, the old jirgas were notorious. If they are different from the previous ones, their influence will increase and people will believe in them.”

Meanwhile, analyst Mohibullah Sharif expressed concern that due to government interference in previous Loya Jirgas, participants in the new Loya Jirga would not be able to independently comment on the future of the government and other issues. . But, he said that if the decisions of the meeting were implemented, it might yield positive results.

“From the time of Najib, to the Islamic Emirate, to the Mujahideen and back to the Republic, most of the time jirgas have been held and decisions have been taken, history has shown us that those decisions have not been implemented properly. The fear is that there will be no such thing. ”

On the other hand, Hamidullah Hotak, a tribal elder and political affairs expert, said that in the current context, holding such a large gathering is a demand of the entire nation that can help the internal legitimacy of the system. He added that the meeting should discuss the constitution, the national flag and the nature of government.

The Islamic Emirate did not provide details on the agenda for the meeting, possible discussions, list of participants and other preparations.
