UAE firm gets contract for airports management

KABUL (SW) – The Islamic Emirate has handed over the management of four airports in Afghanistan to GAAC Company of the United Arab Emirates.

Hamidullah Akhundzada, head of the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, oversaw signing of the contract to set up and manage the airports of Kabul, Herat and Kandahar with Razzaq Aslam, CEO of the Emirati company.

The agreement, which includes the provision of in-flight ground services, was signed during a press conference attended by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, First Deputy Prime Minister, Khairullah Khairkhwah, Acting Minister of Information and Culture, and a number of other Emirati officials.

The First Deputy Prime Minister said at the meeting that the Islamic Emirate is working to strengthen the country’s economy, so that with this agreement, all international airlines will start flying to Afghanistan and increase the level of trade with them.

Earlier, it was said that Qatar and Turkey would jointly manage the country’s airports with the United Arab Emirates.
