KUNDUZ (SW) – Trade activities have resumed at the Shir Khan crossing point with Tajikistan, confirmed officials.
The Bakhtar state news agency quoted Kunduz customs officials as saying that the Shir Khan border crossing had been reopened to the flow of commercial goods and transit.
Bakhtar wrote on Twitter that the port was reopened after 15 days with the understanding between the Afghan and the Tajik customs officials.
Bakhtar added that Tajik businessmen could then travel to Afghanistan on Afghan visas for trade and transit.
Earlier, officials from the Kunduz Chamber of Commerce and Investment announced that the Shir Khan commercial port in the province had been closed to imports and exports of traders’ commercial property.
Massoud Wahdat, a spokesman for the Kunduz Chamber of Commerce and Investment, told Salam Watandar that the port of Shir Khan had been closed to traders’ property and that about 400 trucks had stopped across the border.
