Survivors of the Zanbaq Square truck bombing long for justice

KABUL (SW) – Survivors and relatives of the Zanbaq Square truck bombing still long for justice five years after the incident.

Five years ago, on May 31, 2017, a tanker full of explosives exploded at the Zanbak Square that killed at least 600 people and injured dozens more. No group has claimed responsibility for the deadly blast; But the previous government’s National Directorate of Security blamed the Haqqani Network.

The bloody blast sparked a wave of civil protests, with thousands taking to the streets in Kabul, accusing the government of incompetence and demanding the resignation of a number of officials, but the protests escalated into violence and several protesters were shot dead by the security forces. Were.

However, the survivors of the victims of the explosio have not yet forgotten the loss of their loved ones. Survivors of the victims say that although they have not yet forgotten the horror of the blast, they are concerned about subsequent attacks.

Ejaz al-Haq Ghiasi, had just graduated from university and was working in one of the government offices, which became the prey of the bloody incident.

Nasir Ahmad Binesh, the uncle of Ejaz al-Haq, recalls his last words with a throat full of hatred. “When we heard the attack, his cell phone was turned off, and after hours of searching, we found his body in the morgue of a hospital. The martyrdom of Ejaz al-Haq was unbelievable to me, I still can not believe that he is not with us. We were used to it, we can not forget that he was killed.”

Relatives of the young man refresh his memory by reviewing his photos, complaining that justice has not yet been done for the victims of such incidents in the country.

“We want security in the country, but this wish of our people did not come true, such sacrifices are still going on,” said Siraj al-Haq Ghiasi, Ejaz al-Haq’s brother.

“Unfortunately, thousands of men and women, as well as children and young people, fell victim to this, they fell victim to policies that had nothing to do with them.”

Now that the Islamic Emirate is in power in the country, it neither denies nor confirms the involvement of its forces in this deadly explosion, and considers it necessary to gather information about the attack.

Bilal Karimi, one of the deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, told Salam Watandar that the forces of the Islamic Emirate had not deliberately targeted civilians in the past two decades. He reassured the government was committed to take care of the victims of the bloody events of the past years in the country

“The Islamic Emirate regrets the tragedies that have occurred in the last 20 years and is trying to address the problems of the victims”.

However, there are reports that a number of organizers of the incident were released during a prisoner exchange between the former government and the Islamic Emirate; But the Islamic Emirate does not confirm this.
