KABUL (SW) – The Islamic Emirate authorities have acknowledged hosting talks between the Pakistani government representatives and the Tehrek-e-Taliban Pakistan.
Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, said the Pakistani Taliban had held talks with the Pakistani government representatives in Kabul.
He wrote on his Twitter account today (Wednesday, May 18) that the talks were mediated by the Islamic Emirate.
The spokesman for the Islamic Emirate added that in addition to making significant progress on the relevant issues, a temporary ceasefire had been agreed upon during the talks.
Mujahid stressed that the Islamic Emirate is trying in good faith to make the dialogue process successful and expects tolerance and flexibility from both sides.
Two days ago, media reported on the visit of General Faiz Hamid, the former head of the Pakistan’s (ISI) spy agency and the current commander of the Pakistan Army Corps in Peshawar, to Kabul.
Earlier, there were reports that talks between the Pakistani government and the Pakistani Taliban were mediated by the acting head of the Ministry of Interior of the Islamic Emirate in Khost province.
