Probe ordered into increase in the number of beggars

KABUL (SW) – Mohammad Hassan Akhund, head of the cabinet of ministers, has directed relevant authorities to investigate the reasons for the increase in number of beggars on the streets in Kabul.

The cabinet chief also instructed the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the Red Crescent Society to gather information on the reasons for the increase in beggars in Kabul. Mohammad Hassan Akhund also called on the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs to assess the cause of the increase in beggars in Kabul and take necessary steps to address the problem.

At the same time, human trafficking and the plight of Afghan refugees in Iran were discussed at the meeting. The Cabinet of the Islamic Emirate has ordered the Attorney General’s Office to investigate the detention of Afghans in Iran and send a delegation to Iran if possible to address the issue.

Earlier this week, Amir Khan Muttaqi, foreign minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan held a telephonic conversation with his Iranian counterpart Hussein Amir Abdullahian.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate issued a statement saying that the talks focused on the problems of Afghan refugees in Iran, recent developments, strengthening bilateral relations, security of diplomatic missions, trade, economic relations and some other important issues.
