Mullah Omar united the country, says defense minister

KABUL (SW) – Mullah Mohammad Omar united the north, south, east and west of Afghanistan and brought together all the tribes against the evil plans of dividing the country, said Acting Minister of Defense Mohammad Yaqub Mujahid on Sunday.

He said this in a commemoration meeting on the ninth anniversary of the death of Mullah Mohammad Omar Mujahid, leader and founder of the Islamic Emirate.

He emphasized that many conspiracies have been hatched by various parties to divide Afghanistan, but Mullah Mohammad Omar saved Afghanistan from disintegration. He added that Mullah Mohammad Omar succeeded empty-handed in the face of the “occupation” and never left the country.

He further said that the government is paying serious attention to Afghanistan’s security and that Pakistan’s recent attacks on Khost and Kunar provinces have been tolerated due to some national issues.

On the other hand, Abdul Salam Hanafi, the second deputy prime minister of the Islamic Emirate, said at the meeting that Mullah Omar had eliminated “ethnic prejudices” and traditions that were anti-Islamic. Hanafi added that Afghan territory would not be used against other countries and called on other countries not to use their territory against Afghanistan.

The second deputy prime minister of the Islamic Emirate went on to say that the production and trafficking of narcotics is now banned throughout Afghanistan.

This was the first time that officials of the Islamic Emirate in Kabul commemorate the death of Mullah Mohammad Omar Mujahid publicly. The death of Mullah Mohammad Omar was revealed in 2015 and it was said that he had died two years earlier.

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, said at the meeting that Mullah Mohammad Omar Mujahid had died of tuberculosis. Mujahid added that they want the next generations to continue the path of Mullah Omar.
