KABUL (SW) – The central bank, Da Afghanistan Bank, has announced to auction $ 12 million in the open market in a bid to stabilize the value of afghani against the dollar.
The DAB said in a newsletter on Monday that it would sell about 12 million worth of US dollars on Tuesday.
The Central Bank of Afghanistan has asked eligible banks and exchange and monetary services companies to participate in this bid. One dollar is currently being traded in the market for more than 88 afghanis.
It should be noted that the value of the dollar against the Afghani, which was less than 80 afghanis before the Islamic Emirate came to power, had reached nearly 120 afghanis in recent months.
