KABUL (SW) – The Afghanistan Journalist Safety Committee (AJSC) has called for the immediate release of Ghulam Rabbani, its provincial member in Ghor province, by the forces of the Islamic Emirate.
The committee issued a statement saying that Rabbani had been arrested by the forces of the Islamic Emirate on Wednesday from his office. Along with the Committee member, a local journalist in Ghor Ahmad Khosrow was also detained for two hours and released after examination, it said.
The Committee added that 24 hours later, Rabbani is still being held captive by the forces of the Islamic Emirate. The committee stressed that it had not been able to obtain an answer from the Islamic Emirate officials as to why he had been detained.
The Afghanistan Journalist Safety Committee has asked the security officials of the Islamic Emirate to release Rabbani as soon as possible and to explain the reason for his detention in the light of the law.
