LASHKARGAH (SW) – Health officials in Helmand say the number of coronavirus cases in the province has risen significantly.
Dr. Ahmad Khan Weyar, the provincial head of Covid-19 hospital in Helmand, said that the number of positive cases has recently increased by 50%, adding that more than 2729 positive cases of were recorded last year alone, which resulted in the death of 118 patients.
He said efforts were being made to prevent the spread of the virus and that was why mobile teams were operating in the capital Lashkargah and all districts.
“The incidence of coronavirus has increased by 50% due to lack of public attention,” he said. “We have teams ready to treat the patients and we are working on this. We also ask people to take the coronavirus seriously.”
Health officials in Helmand are urging people to pay close attention to health recommendations to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
