Call for completion of pending development projects

URUZGAN (SW) – Uruzgan residents demand authorities of the Islamic Emirate to make sure the pending development projects initiated by the previous government are completed for public welfare.

Dozens of reconstruction projects in Uruzgan’s capital, Tirinkot, and districts that remained unfinished after the fall of the previous republic are facing an unknown fate.

Some residents of Uruzgan are urging the authorities of the Islamic Emirate to restart work on these incomplete projects. They are concerned that these reconstruction projects are now in danger of collapsing if not completed.

Ghulam Farooq, a resident of Uruzgan, told Salam Watandar: “You are aware that the reconstruction projects in the provincial capital and districts of Uruzgan, which are most beneficial to the people, are now under serious threat of destruction. The government needs to pay close attention to the reconstruction of these projects and restart work as soon as possible.”

At the same time, some engineers are concerned about the shortcomings of these projects. Engineer Qudratullah Zmarai in Uruzgan said that if the projects were not completed, the repaired parts would be destroyed over time.

“When construction projects are incomplete, one of the main problems is that they get worse over time,” he said.

Mullah Mohammad Asif, director of information and culture in Uruzgan, said provincial officials had spoken to representatives of construction companies and hoped work on the projects would begin soon.

“The governor of Uruzgan and other officials of the province have met with the representatives of the construction companies and talked to them. We are trying our best to restart work on all these incomplete projects,” he told Salam Watandar.

Most of the projects in Uruzgan that are currently under construction are related to the municipality, which was funded by the presidential palace during the previous government.
