Afghan people neglected in the Doha Agreement, says analysts

KABUL (SW) – Two years on since the historic Doha Agreement between the Islamic Emirate and the US, analysts believe the West has forgotten the people of Afghanistan.

In the Doha Agreement, the (Taliban) Islamic Emirate and the United States were the main parties. Under the agreement, the Islamic Emirate has been framed as an ally of the United States in the fight against international terrorism.

Now, two years after the agreement, a number of political analysts believe that the Afghan people have been completely overlooked in the agreement, and the West has become the main focus of the dialogue with the Islamic Emirate, which eventually led to the collapse of the republic in Afghanistan.

“The Doha Agreement led to the overthrow of Afghanistan’s former republican system and the establishment of an Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan,” said Mustafa Alizada, a political analyst.

Other political analysts say there were speculations that the agreement could lead to the formation of an inclusive government, lasting peace and free elections, but the Afghan people were overlooked in the talks with the United States and the Islamic Emirate playing a key role.

Meanwhile, Mahmoud Azhtarabi, a university professor and international relations expert, said that behind the agreement were issues that were not reflected and that the secret decision was a wake-up call that led to the collapse of the “Islamic Republic of Afghanistan”.

On the other hand, Matiullah Kharouti, another political analyst, said in connection with the outcome of the Doha Agreement that it led to a transformation from the republic system to the emirate without bloodshed.

It should be noted that after this agreement, the Islamic Emirate stopped its attacks on international forces, but intensified its attacks on the security forces of the previous government, and eventually came to power with the fall of the Islamic Republic.
