Islamic world urged to help earn recognition for Afghanistan

KABUL (SW) – The Islamic Emirate has urged the Islamic countries to play their role in earning international recognition for their rule in Afghanistan.

This issue was raised on Wednesday during a cabinet meeting. Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhand, the Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate, said at the meeting that all the conditions necessary for the legitimacy of a governance system have been met by the Islamic Emirate and that the international community must recognize their rule.

He called on Islamic countries to take the lead to recognize the Islamic Emirate. According to him, security is now provided in Afghanistan and international institutions should invest in this country.

The Prime Minister added that in addition to humanitarian aid, Afghanistan also needs development assistance from the international community, and that Afghanistan will still need this assistance once the current problems are resolved.

Welcoming the global aid to Afghanistan, he stressed that short-term aid could not solve the crisis in Afghanistan, and that if the current plan and economic solution is created, Afghanistan’s current problems will be solved and the country will move towards prosperity.

The Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate stated that countries that claim to be defenders of human rights, by freezing the state reserves of Afghanistan and imposing restrictions on this country, have trampled on human rights hence Afghanistan is facing an economic crisis.

Meanwhile, Deborah Lyons, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, said the organization was collecting aid to Afghanistan and that talks were under way to increase it and free up the frozen funds.

On the other hand, Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate, called on international companies and investors to invest in various sectors in Afghanistan.

He said that Afghanistan’s foreign policy is economy-oriented and the government of the Islamic Emirate wants this country to be the center of understanding between other countries.
