Production capacity at Kajaki to be lifted, says officials

KABUL (SW) – Officials of the Islamic Emirate have vowed that the production capacity of Kajaki Dam in Helmand province will be increased. 

Inamullah Samangani, a deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, wrote on Twitter that the Economic Commission, in a meeting chaired by Abdul Salam Hanafi, the second deputy prime minister, had decided to immediately purchase electrical appliances for transmission  of electricity from Kajaki to Kandahar and Helmand provinces.

Samangani added that work is continuing on the Kajaki Dam’s electricity generation capacity will increase to 150 MW next month.

According to him, with increase of the power generation capacity, traders and residents of the south of the country will benefit from it.

Kajaki Dam is one of the most important dams for electricity and water supply for agriculture in the southern provinces of the country, which currently generates 51 MW of electricity.
