Production units facing dire shortages of raw material

KABUL (SW) – An overwhelming majority of production units in the country are faced with dire shortages of raw material, said traders and industrialists.

Officials at the Afghanistan Chamber of Industries and Mines say that after the Islamic Emirate came to power and the Afghan state reserves were freeze, most of the pharmaceutical and food companies have run out of raw materials.

Shirbaz Kaminzada, head of the Afghanistan Chamber of Industries and Mines, told a news conference in Kabul today that manufacturing companies had faced a shortage of raw materials since the Islamic Emirate took office. According to him, there are currently 5,000 private manufacturing companies in the country, 25% of which have been shut down due to lack of raw materials.

The head of Afghanistan’s Chamber of Industries and Mines called on the US government to release $ 2.5 billion in seized funds to traders, factory owners and industrialists. Kaminzada added that if the United States does not release the money, the ACIM will file a lawsuit in international courts.

Officials at the Afghanistan Chamber of Industry and Mines accused the United States and the international community of creating an economic crisis in Afghanistan, saying the international community must release Afghanistan’s seized funds as soon as possible.

They also urged the Islamic Emirate to address this problem as soon as possible.
