Taliban hang four alleged kidnappers in Herat

HERAT CITY (SW) – The Taliban have hanged in public the bodies of four alleged kidnapers in Herat province.

Officials at the Taliban’s Islamic Emirate in Herat said the men had abducted a son and father from the Darbalmak area of ​​the province.

Maulvi Shirahmad Ammaar, the Taliban’s deputy governor for Herat, said the alleged kidnappers had been killed in clashes with Taliban forces. Their bodies were hanged with placards hanging around their necks, which said: “Whoever abducts, this is the punishment”.

There has been mixed reaction to this sort of punishment and public display among the social media users.

Some of the social media users have denounced the Taliban’s actions saying the alleged kidnappers should be tried in a just way before the execution.

Earlier, the Taliban arrested two people on charges of stealing and paraded them in the city with their faces painted in black color.
