PUL-E-KHUMRI (SW) – A car bombing in Baghlan has claimed at least four lives and injured more than 30 people, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
The local security sources in Baghlan-e-Markazi district told Salam Watandar that a car bomb had exploded at the district police headquarters, killing four security personnel and a civilian, and wounding 14 security personnel, including the district police chief, with more than 30 civilians also wounded.

However, Ahmad Javid Besharat, a spokesman for the Baghlan police command, said three security personnel and a civilian had been killed and 28 others wounded including eight security forces.
Meanwhile, Khair Mohammad, an eye-witness told Salam Watandar that the blast has destroyed nearly 100 shops and dozens of homes causing massive financial losses.
On the other hand, Farid Sayed Kheili, commander of the 3rd Army Brigade in Baghlan, said that after the car bombing, the militants started armed assault on the center of the district, which was repulsed by the security forces. According to him, more than 10 Taliban fighters were killed and wounded in the clashes.
At the same time, local sources in Baghlan told Salam Watandar that dozens of mortar shells had been fired by the Taliban into the city of Pul-e-Khumri since this morning, killing one civilian and wounding 10 others.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the car bomb blast at the police headquarters in the central Baghlan district, claiming that more than 40 security personnel have been killed and wounded in the attack.
