21 more lives lost to Covid-19 amid second wave

KABUL (SW) – The Ministry of Public Health on Wednesday confirmed at least 21 people lost their lives overnight due to coronavirus.

In its daily report, the ministry said that 2,057 patients suspected of having Covid-19 were tested overnight, of which 271 tested positive.

According to the Ministry, 136 patients of coronavirus recovered in the same period. According to the report, the new cases of infections were identified in 23 provinces of the country.

According to the Ministry of Public Health, since the beginning of the spread of the virus, 51,360 people across the country have been infected with the virus and 2,126 people have died from it.

It added, in this while, as many as 39,920 people got treated and recovered. Overall, some 186,292 people have been tested for the virus so far across the country, the MoPH said.

On global scale, more than 78,459,000 people have been diagnosed with the Covid-19 as of Wednesday. Of these, more than 1.726 million died and more than 55.218 million were recovered.

The United States, India, Brazil, Russia and France have been identified as among the most affected countries. Among them, the United States has recorded the highest number of casualties in the world.
