WJ calls security leadership for briefing over KU carnage

KABUL (SW) – The Wolesi Jirga (lower house) has asked top security leadership to brief the house over circumstances surrounding the brazen terrorist attack on the Kabul University earlier this week.

During Wednesday’s session, the house decided to ask the National Security Advisor Hamdullah Muhib, head of the National Directorate of Security Ahmad Zia Siraj, defense minister Assadullah Khalid and interior minister Mohammad Massoud Andarabi to brief the lawmakers.

The members also criticized government’s security strategy in failing to curb mounting terrorist attacks.

Taking part in the debate, an MP from Kabul, Allahgul Mujahed urged security officials to resign over their failure in stopping this tragedy from happening. Another MP, Abdul Zaher Tamim blamed the president for appointing incompetent officials in the security sector.

The MPs condemned the Monday’s assault on the KU that left over 20 students killed and more than 30 other injured.
