KUNDUZ CITY (SW) – At least eight security forces got killed in a Taliban raid in Imam Saheb district of Kunduz province, officials confirmed on Sunday.
According to a well-placed source, the insurgents staged assaults on security check posts in the Pul-e-Khishti and Ostamunega areas of the district last night. The source said the clashes continued for at least five hours leaving six policemen and two members of the local uprising force killed and injuring of eight other.
The Taliban also sustained losses in these clashes, the source said.
Meanwhile, Hadi Jamal, spokesman for the 217 – Pamir corps only confirmed the clashes without sharing details about the death toll. He said six insurgents were killed and four others wounded in these clashes.
Last week, at least five security forces got killed in Kunduz following a suicide car bombing in the Imam Saheb district.
Chairman provincial council Mohammad Yusuf Ayubi said the Taliban carried out the attack in the morning, and the clashes between the insurgents and the security forces continued for hours.
