Taliban kill 11 members of uprising force in Badakhshan

FAIZABAD (SW) – At least 11 members of the local uprising force got killed by the Taliban insurgents in Badakhshan province, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

According to the local officials, the incident took place in the Jurum district of the province. Abdullah Naji, a member of the provincial council, informed Salam Watandar that the Taliban targeted these men in an ambush in the Pul-e-Cable area of the district.

Commander of these forces, Syed Omar, is said to be among those killed in the attack.

A well-placed security source told Salam Watandar that ten more members of the local uprising force got injured in this incident while the Taliban insurgents took away four members of the uprising force with them.

Explaining details of the deadly ambush, Ahmad Javed Mujadadi, member of the provincial council, said the Taliban first attacked the check post of these pro-government forces and later ambushed them when they retreated. He added that the state of a number of injured men is fragile.

Commenting on this, the Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujaed confirmed taking control of six security check posts in Jurum district. He added the Taliban killed 18 members of the local uprising force including two of their leaders namely Syed Omar and Aminullah.
